Our Mission

We believe that high-quality ballet training gives every student the opportunity to achieve tremendous growth — technically, artistically, and personally.

At Duet – School of Ballet (Vaganova Method), we are committed to providing professional ballet education in a supportive, disciplined, and inspiring environment.

We offer ballet programs for students ages 5–18, from beginning through advanced levels, with year-round training as well as Summer and Winter programs.

Our approach is based on the Vaganova Method, with a strong emphasis on classical ballet technique, artistry, musicality, discipline, and individual development.

Whether a student dreams of pursuing ballet professionally or simply wants to experience serious classical ballet training, we encourage every dancer to reach their fullest potential while developing confidence, dedication, and a lifelong appreciation for the art of ballet.

Our primary goal is to EDUCATE — giving our students a strong professional ballet foundation that will benefit them on stage and beyond.

Why Choose Duet?

  • Professional Vaganova Training: Students receive structured classical ballet education based on the Vaganova Method, with attention to correct technique, placement, coordination, musicality, and artistry.

  • Individual Attention: We believe every dancer develops differently. Our teachers work closely with students to recognize their strengths, address areas that need improvement, and help them progress at their individual pace.

  • Proven Student Success: Our students have been accepted to selective New York City schools including Mark Twain, Bay Academy, and LaGuardia High School, among others.

  • Partnering Training: Advanced students have the opportunity to study partnering with experienced professional dancer and teacher Albert Davydov, developing balance, coordination, turns, supported positions, and performance skills.

  • Classical Variations & Repertoire: Students learn classical ballet variations, solos, and repertoire, strengthening their technique while developing artistry, confidence, and stage experience.

  • Individual & Private Training: Private coaching is available for competition preparation, partnering, classical variations and repertoire, performance coaching, and improvement of individual ballet technique. Each private session is tailored to the dancer’s level, individual needs, and goals, allowing focused work on specific technical and artistic areas.

  • Competition Opportunities: Our Competition Team participates in major ballet competitions and festivals, including YAGP and Jewels Festival, where our dancers have received placements, awards, and scholarships.

  • Performance Experience: Students have opportunities to perform throughout the year, including in The Nutcracker, Spring and Summer performances, competitions, and other special productions.

  • Summer & Winter Programs: Duet offers intensive ballet training during school breaks, including unique programs in Brooklyn and Upstate New York, giving students additional opportunities to improve their technique and artistry.

  • Additional Training Opportunities: Master classes, intensives, rehearsals, competition coaching, auditions, and special programs allow students to expand their ballet education beyond regular weekly classes.

  • Opportunities Beyond the Classroom: We believe ballet education should include more than taking classes. Our students have opportunities to train, compete, perform, rehearse for full productions, work with professional teachers and coaches, and experience a professional ballet environment.

  • Open to New Students: Dancers from other schools are welcome to participate in selected classes, intensives, camps, auditions, private coaching, and special programs.

More Than Ballet Classes

At Duet, students don't simply come to take a ballet class.

They learn. They train. They perform. They grow.

Our goal is to give young dancers the technique, discipline, artistry, confidence, and opportunities they need to discover how far ballet can take them.
